neen in a nutshell
my darn tootin story
I am a mechanical engineer turned singer-songwriter, producer, and musician. Currently residing in Los Angeles, I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA playing the alto sax in my school’s orchestra. In highschool, I learned to play the keyboard by ear, by creating covers of my favorite songs.
In 2018, I graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, earning BS & MS degrees in mechanical engineering. I put aside music, as I figured it was the most “logical” route to take.
After finishing school, I worked for the US Department of Veterans Affairs as a construction site engineer. In January 2020, I left St. Louis to move to Los Angeles to work for a fashion startup. Less than 4 months later, I was let-go due to COVID-19.
The pandemic forced me to reevaluate my priorities, and I decided to shift gears to wholeheartedly pursue music. I began to write and sing for the first time.
In 2021 I matriculated into a graduate program with Berklee College of Music to earn an MM degree in music production. Currently, I work in a recording studio in Santa Monica and perform around Los Angeles. I can't wait to continue on this journey ✨
